Glitz and Glamour at the Da Vinci’s Demons Premiere

26 Apr

Da Vinci's Demons

We’ve had a bit of a glamorous month at Just Perfect this month, mingling with the stars at the premiere of the new TV show Da Vinci’s Demons.

The highly anticipated TV series aired on Fox last Friday (19th of March) in the UK and was shown the day before at the premiere at The Gwyn Hall in Neath. JPC are the in-house caterers at The Gwyn Hall and we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to serve the best in the business at the premiere. The reason it premiered in Neath? It was filmed in Wales and it was a great event to showcase all that Wales has to offer. It was not only the beautiful scenery that brought the production to Wales, but also the talented artists that helped bring the show to life.

We were very proud to be a part of such an iconic event in the Welsh calender and would like to thank the team for helping the day run smoothly. We hope this will bring many more productions to Wales and we hope that we will get the change to be a part of them too.

Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato & Red Onion Soup

26 Apr

At Just Perfect Catering we have many executive chefs that love to share their knowledge with the world. Alun is one of our most expeirienced chefs at JPC and he has kindly sent us one of his favourite soup recipes to share with everyone.

Fine spray of oil

2 large red peppers, deseeded and roughly chopped

350g tomatoes,

1 small crusty French loaf halved

1garlic clove, peeled

1pint of vegetable stock

salt and pepper to season

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

4 tbsp fromage frais

1. Preheat the oven to 190(°C) and spray a large roasting tin with the oil and place the pepper and onion in the base. Cook in oven for 10 minutes.

2. Add the tomatoes and cook for a further 20 minutes or until the peppers are soft.

3. Cut the bread into inch slices. Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the cut edge of the garlic over the bread. Place all the bread slices on a large baking tray, and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, turning halfway through, until crisp.

4. Remove the vegetables from the oven and allow to cool slightly and then blending in a food processor until smooth. Strain the vegetables mixture through a large sieve into a sauce pan, to remove the seeds and skin.

5. Add the stock, season to taste with salt and pepper and garnish with a swirl of fromage frais.

Happy Garlic Day to all the foodies out there!!

Brecon Beacons Tourism Blog

A very happy garlic day to all!

Easy to grow, available in the Spring (usually April – June, depending on which country you are in) and downright delicious, we’re true believers that good old Allium Sativum (garlic to you and me) deserves a whole day of celebration unto itself.

And to show our appreciation for the brilliant bulb, here’s a gorgeously simple recipe for wild garlic pesto courtesy of the author of the Hedgerow Handbook and all-round Brecon Beacons foraging guru Adele Nozedar…

Ingredients.
200g ramsons leaves **don’t use the ‘bulbs’ as you would with normal garlic: a) we want them to grow again next year and b) they are teeny anyway

200g leaves of any other fresh herb (the coolness of ground elder works well against the pokiness of the ramsons)

200g finely grated hard cheese

200g hazelnuts, coarsely crushed

Dash of sea salt

Wash and dry the leaves…
